LIHOC works relentlessly to combat the HIV/AIDS epidemic through prevention, testing, treatment, and community education. We integrate HIV testing and counseling in maternal-newborn-child health settings and scale up PMTCT services.

Key achievements

Routine offer of HIV testing increased pregnant women tested from 10% to 98%
HIV-positive pregnant women on ART for PMTCT increased from 2% to over 99%
Mass media and radio outreach for awareness beyond state boundaries
Collaboration with ART sites and health facilities in Ilesa and environs

Our approach

We train Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) in HCT and PMTCT, conduct community mobilization and peer education, and link clients to health facilities. LIHOC works in multiple states and communities to reduce transmission and support those living with HIV.
